Market Desk (online)The irony of one of Britain’s richest men occupying the PMresidence at 10th Downing Street as the country undergoes the worst economic crises in decades was aptly captured by UK’s beloved Larry the cat:

Rishi Sunak’s family is loaded so caviar and lobster on the menu for me from tomorrow.

Rishi Sunak, the 57th Prime Minister of Britain has set record after record. He became a member of the British Parliament for the first time in 2015 at the age of 35. In just 7 years after that, he was elected as the country’s prime minister. Sunak is Britain’s youngest prime minister in more than 200 years.

Meanwhile, according to the ‘Rich List’ of Sunday Times, Rishi and his wife Akshta Murthy’s combined wealth is 73 crore pounds. In terms of wealth, they have surpassed US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and even Britain’s King Charles III.

Analysts estimate the couple’s total net worth at around £730mn. While the king’s exact personal realm is unknown, it is believed to be worth around £370mn, as reported in the Sunday Times Rich List earlier this year.

Most of that wealth comes from Infosys, the Bangalore-based IT company founded by Mr. Murthy. His daughter, Mr Sunak’s wife is reported to have a 0.91% stake, around 39mn shares, worth around £727mn.

Experts say this is an increase of more than £200mn compared to a year ago due to a rise in share price during the pandemic.

Mr. Sunak and his wife also own other investments including company that directs investments through Mauritius.
