Market Desk (online): Former US Vice President Mike Pence has formally announced that he will campaign for the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential race.
The announcement sets him up against former President Donald Trump, the current frontrunner and Pence’s former boss.
Pence has already filed his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission. He will launch his campaign for the final nomination at an event in Des Moines, Iowa, on his 64th birthday on Wednesday (June 7).
Trump had previously chosen him as his running mate in the 2016 presidential election when he was governor of Indiana. But his differences with Trump became clear during the riots on Capitol Hill on January 6. The ebb and flow between the two did not end later.
He later said Trump pressured him to overturn the election results. Trump was reckless about this.
Despite the differences, He became a familiar face of conservative politics in the US, just like Trump.
